About Us
Mission Statement
The High Plains High School Hockey League, established during the 2000-2001 season, is a community-based league dedicated to promoting and advancing high school ice hockey in Colorado, with a focus on the Denver metro and Front Range areas.
- As an affiliate of USA Hockey, we adhere to their core values, which include:
- Sportsmanship
- Respect for the Individual
- Integrity
- Pursuit of Excellence at the team, individual, and organizational levels
- Enjoyment
- Loyalty
- Teamwork
By connecting the sport of hockey with a player’s local community, we aim to foster a healthy expression of school pride.
While participating teams may not be officially sanctioned or recognized as representatives of a particular high school or its administration, such recognition is not a requirement for participation in the League. We understand that some schools may not have enough students to form their own team. To maximize participation, the League will arrange appropriate pairings of schools, including private, charter, and home-schooled students. These combined teams will compete equally alongside single-school teams during League play.
